Laboratory
Activities of the Gaia Desert group take place in the
Environmental Microbiology Research Laboratory
(EMRL) located in Loma Linda University School of Public Health
The LLU EMRL centers all research around the following unifying hypothesis:
- That underserved communities have a greater exposure to contaminants and human pathogens. These lifetime exposures increase the burden of infectious disease.
- Most Environmental Justice communities suffer from neglected public infrastructure that puts them at higher risk for infectious disease.
This lab is located on the campus of Loma Linda University School of Public Health and is equipped for state-of-the-art work on environmental microbiology and exposure science investigations. We evaluate human exposure to pathogens in surface water, on fomites, in drinking water, in wastewater and in tobacco water-pipes. We prioritize the community science approach with a goal to keep all research relevant to underserved communities.
We are located at 24785 Stewart Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354
This laboratory is lead by Ryan G. Sinclair PhD, MPH.
